I rarely lose weight successfully so I thought I was just *feeling* lighter. But a ballpark time was about a month.
Several people I've counseled have lost 6-8 pounds in a week JUST eating mostly fruit and greens until dinner and then eating a very light, properly combined cooked dinner.
An important aspect is to keep up caloric intake and reduce processed sugar and fat to nothing.

Now my diet (maintaining the same weight loss a year and a half later) is I have 16-20 oz. of a green smoothie at 9:30am, then I have a HUGE (it seems inordinately large but is just right for me) salad or combo of veggies for lunch at around 1pm, and then I have a more complicated, usually higher fat, raw dinner like nut pate with collards, or avocado with other stuff, spiralized yam, etc.

Back when I lost the weight I was eating TONS of nuts, avocados (daily), dried fruit, zucchini noodles with pesto, etc. I tried to combine food properly but was really more interested in staying raw and satiated.Becca Campbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08879412390992782946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5868838946462058803.post-268796238238907002008-09-21T22:42:00.000-07:002008-09-21T22:42:00.000-07:00Hey..How long did it take yout o lose the weight??...Hey..How long did it take yout o lose the weight?? I've been transitioning to raw for about two months now and the weight is really falling off. Folks keep asking me if it's because I'm a 100% raw foodist. I'm not. I've been maintaining about 85-90%, but even that use of percentages is uncomfortable for me. This journey I'm on is so not about the numbers or labels. It's about becoming whole, healthy, vibrant and alive.EARTH MOTHERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05499636052682827022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5868838946462058803.post-53121890591023767582008-08-22T13:00:00.000-07:002008-08-22T13:00:00.000-07:00Good luck with your big day. Those limits made me anxious and more fixated on food than ever. I finally am allowing myself permission to use anything organic at PCC, regardless of origin or local seasonal appropriateness, and my food horizons have expanded delightfully (and fixation somewhat diminished!). I am finding that green smoothies with mangoes are just wonderful right now: mildly sweet, very green, and satisfying.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5868838946462058803.post-4370471822367124752008-02-22T16:50:00.000-08:002008-02-22T16:50:00.000-08:00Well missy...I would say your post is fantasticall...Well missy...I would say your post is fantastically appropriate to my week. It's unpasteurized, so it still has the good live cultures, but I'm not sure if that counts as "raw" (especially since the type I use, Genmai, has brown rice... it tastes nicer to me than the straight soybean ones, though). I haven't come across any miso that specifically says it's "raw", though many are unpasteurized. I'm guessing that that's what the raw recipe books are calling for when they say "raw miso"!raw by defaulthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04869829059425607630noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5868838946462058803.post-5036201678374378312007-11-14T14:00:00.000-08:002007-11-14T14:00:00.000-08:00Ooh, those are good ideas. I know it's not strictly raw, but I've found that a cup of hot herbal tea often helps to warm me up. Anything with ginger is also quite warming.

As far as foods that are comforting, you could try miso soup. If you really want to stay raw, you could get the raw kind and just warm it up a little (not enough to kill the enzymes, but enough so that it feels somewhat warm). I've been having a lot of that lately, and it seems to satisfy cravings (perhaps because it's quite salty).raw by defaulthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04869829059425607630noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5868838946462058803.post-33469767710351267682007-11-03T19:55:00.000-07:002007-11-03T19:55:00.000-07:00That's a really really cool post.
